The Château de Fontainebleau was one of the favorite residences of kings and sovereigns, from François 1er to Napoleon III. Its wonderful decoration and furnishings reflect the passage of those who have lived over the centuries. The apartments occupied by Napoleon 1st and those of Pope Pius VII have been recently restored.
